Three Things That All Great Leaders in Network Marketing Do

Network marketing, also known as multi-level marketing (MLM), can be an incredibly lucrative business opportunity for those with the drive and determination to succeed. However, as with any business venture, success is not guaranteed. To truly succeed in network marketing, you must be able to lead and inspire a team.

Great leaders in network marketing tend to possess several key qualities that set them apart. Here are three of the most important of these qualities.

Great Leaders Keep it Simple

One of the most important things that great leaders in network marketing do is keep things simple. This means, most importantly, focusing on the key performance indicators (KPI) that will lead to success.

It’s too easy for a new recruit to the network marketing industry to get bogged down in the minutiae of getting their business off the ground. Learning the history and details of the product, setting up their office space, and talking ad nauseam about what they plan on doing—these are just a few ways that new team members can distract themselves from what is really important.

It is imperative that a leader in the business direct their team, especially their new recruits, to activities that will immediately help them grow.

In network marketing, the most important KPI is prospecting and follow-up. If a leader can get their new recruit engaged in this activity immediately, they will see what is possible in their business.

Immediately have them make a list and help them to start making contact with people who may be interested in their product or opportunity.

Keeping things simple and directing a new recruit’s attention to this one activity makes it easier for people to understand and engage with the business opportunity.

Many people are intimidated by the idea of starting their own business and the thought of learning complex marketing strategies and sales techniques can be overwhelming. By giving a new recruit one job, making a list and making contact, you have eliminated much of the anxiety associated with a new venture.

This focus on simplicity (and especially identifying and driving your KPI) makes it easier to duplicate success. By focusing on a few simple strategies that are easy to replicate, leaders can help their team members achieve success more quickly and easily. This simplicity drives through the entire organization and an entire team using the same strategy to work toward a common goal is a force to be reckoned with.

Great Leaders Paint a Vision of Possibility

Another key trait of great leaders in network marketing is their ability to paint a vision for possibility. They must create a compelling narrative that inspires and motivates their team to see the possibilities and believe they are available to them. In other words, they must show people that this is something they can do and that the effort is worth the results.

Leaders show what is possible and help new recruits see how they can achieve their goals by working together.

Painting a vision for possibility is important for several reasons. First, it helps create a sense of excitement and enthusiasm that drives the team forward. When people can see the potential rewards that come with hard work and dedication, they are more likely to put in the effort required to achieve those rewards. For the new recruit, it answers the question “What is network marketing and how can it benefit me?”.

Second, painting a vision for possibility helps create a sense of unity and purpose within the team. When everyone is working towards a common goal, they are more likely to collaborate and support one another. This creates a positive, uplifting environment that is conducive to success.

Finally, painting a vision for possibility helps create a sense of meaning and purpose for the team members. When people feel part of something bigger than themselves, they are more likely to stay committed and motivated over the long term.

Great Leaders Help People Execute On a Call to Action

In “The 4 Disciplines of Execution” by David McChesney, et al., a “call to action” refers to a specific, measurable action that is intended to help achieve a team’s Wildly Important Goal (WIG).

The final trait of great leaders in network marketing is their ability to help people execute on a call to action. This means providing training that specifically drives team members into activity, and by activity, I mean something that brings them closer to their goal. A great leader should always end training with a call to action specific to that training.

For example, suppose a leader has a training call on a new product that the company has introduced. In that case, they should spend a portion of that call modeling how they would present a customer with the new product and then ask that they make five exposures of the new product once the call has concluded.

Each call to action must be clear, actionable, and specific. A call to action should never feel overwhelming.

Helping people execute on the call to action is important for several reasons. First, it ensures that everyone is on the same page and working towards the same goal. When team members have a clear understanding of what is expected of them, they are more likely to stay focused and motivated.

Second, providing support and guidance helps team members overcome any obstacles they may encounter along the way. When everyone is on the same page, these obstacles are easy to overcome.

The Final Word: Accountability

When combined with a method of tracking team-wide activity and progress, these strategies become even more effective. Authentic Sharing Technology, specifically the RapidFunnel App, allows great network marketing leaders to provide their team with a simple and affordable way to act on their KPI, share stories that paint a picture of what is possible and encourage simple and consistent calls to action.
